LINCs and LIBRARIES

Maybe the money that has been splurged on changing the identities of all our well-recognised State Libraries into *LINCs, would have been better spent on supporting the well-run Adult Education programs that provided an affordable way of pursuing an interest that may lead on to bigger things.

And locals and visitors alike would still know where all the Libraries were. Winking smile


* A LINC is a four-letter word for a library!

There has been considerable concern expressed in the press - in both the north and the south - on the state of Adult Education.
Or should I say LearnXpress, as it too, has been re-branded? How much longer will it last?

TASMANIA'S once-popular Adult Education system is being axed by stealth.

By increasing the cost of many Adult Education courses, some by as much as 80 per cent, the State Government is putting many courses out of reach.

Naturally, numbers of participants will fall, courses will be dropped, the Government will declare that the system is no longer popular or viable and the doors will slam shut.....
