George Town Council Meeting – 21 May 2008
P 97-8 - Report on Regent Square Master Plan Public Meeting held on 21 April 2008.
BACKGROUND
Following the public consultation and as part of the Memorial Hall development and landscaping requirements on Regent Square the need for a master plan became apparent.
Therefore in conjunction with the landscape architecture required for the Hall project a master plan of Regent Square was commissioned to provide the best community use of the space into the future.
At its meeting of 21 February 2008, Council passed the following motion (Minute 61/08) – That Council receive the Regent Square Master Plan and seek community feedback
on this plan in accordance with Council's Community Consultation Policy and that a public meeting be held.
COMMUNITY OPINION
The Plan was developed after consideration of the community input and ideas at the Value Management Workshop on the Memorial Hall and Regent Square.
OFFICER'S COMMENT
The public meeting was held and a number of suggestions were put forward for consideration by Council (*see attached notes of the meeting) *not included in online Minutes.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council consider the outcome of this meeting and any further actions to be taken.
DECISION
That the outcomes of the Regent Square Master Plan public meeting be workshopped.
WAS IT EVER WORKSHOPPED?
WHY HASN'T IT BEEN ADOPTED AFTER ALL THIS CONSULTATION AND EXPENSE?
COULD IT BE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THE PLANS TO ERECT A GOVERNMENT HUB - OR ANY MORE BUILDINGS ON REGENT SQUARE!
